Preventive Care and Education We believe in the concept of preventive care and the education it requires to achieve optimal dental health. Our primary goal is to provide “dental health care†rather than “dental disease care.†That is why our practice places an emphasis on regular thorough oral examinations and preventive care. We understand that regular frequent professional cleanings, fluoride treatments and dental sealants are important factors in preventing dental disease. Years of experience confirm that patients who take advantage of preventive care have by far the healthiest mouths. Since recent research has conclusively proven dental health has a direct impact on general health, we feel that is it more important than ever to focus on the health of your smile in order to increase your physical wellbeing! Safety Precautions Our office is one where your safety is paramount. We follow standards recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Tennessee Occupational Health Administration (TOSHA) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in order to ensure that your visit to our office is as germ-free as possible. Our instruments are wrapped and heat sterilized to achieve & maintain sterility until the point of use. Each package has a process indicator to assure proper processing. We use the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences Dental Pathology Lab to ascertain that our sterilizers provide absolute sterility by weekly monitoring. As an extra precaution for your health & safety we have a point-of-entry water sterilization/purification system that meets & exceeds the ADA'’s and the EPA’'s Criteria for Water Quality in the dental office. Training and Expertise In order to maintain the high level of service and results that you deserve, we are continually updating our training and expertise by participating in professional Continuing Education at the local, state and national level. We continually review literature so that we are cognizant of and can scientifically evaluate any new techniques, products, and equipment in order to determine their efficacy and safety prior to being introduced into the care of our patients. Our CE also includes state mandated up-dates in CPR, Basic Life Support, and updates in OSHA Blood-borne Pathogens Standards & MSDS Standards. Making Your Visit Positive We want to build a foundation of trust with our patients so that you and your child will have less apprehension about visiting the dentist.
